Food, Mood and Cognition Consulting is a consultancy service providing specialist knowledge regarding a range of aspects within the area of nutrition and behaviour.

Whilst the specialist expertise provided can be summed up under the umbrella term 'Food, Mood and Cognition', its main aspects regard the effects of functional foods and functional food ingredients on mood and cognition, as well as appetite, satiety and energy intake. 
Its commercial relevance lies in investigating the viability of proposed commercial claims for the food products or ingredients in question.

Food, Mood and Cognition Consulting provides scientific expertise to organisations requiring
assistance in areas such as: 
  • effects of specific foods or food constituents on cognition and mood;
  • effects of specific foods or food constituents on appetite, satiety and energy intake;
  • acquisition of food and drink preferences;
  • food craving and addiction; appetite control.
Examples of these themes can be found under Publications.

Additional topics for which advice can be provided include:
Measurement of mood and mental performance; questionnaire design; functional foods.
  

Services

Some examples of the services that can be provided are:
  • A literature review of the most up-to-date scientific literature on a specific topic, with optional identification of relevant business opportunities or important aspects for further research;
  • Support the publication of literature in any of the named fields of expertise, whether previously
    run studies or a current review of the scientific literature.  I have a track record of publishing in
    high-impact factor journals;
  • Support design and/or organise/manage studies to test commercial claims or health claims relating to
    functional foods or nutraceuticals;
  • Advice regarding anything pertaining to the areas of expertise named above 
    (see also Consultant Profile).
  • Collaborative partners include Cerebrus Associates and the Nutrition and Behaviour Unit at Bristol University
